Which LED to choose?

Now, this is a more important question because it involves choosing the right outdoor LED screen. This is very crucial because you will want to ensure you get the right one for your needs. Here are some factors that will matter most when choosing the outdoor LED screen to use.

Pixel Pitch

Pixel pitch refers to the size and amount of LEDs that make up the sign and this has a huge effect on the image quality produced. A P6 LED sign has one LED every 6mm whereas a P10 sign has an LED every 10mm. The lower the pitch the sharper the image, so P6 is much sharper than a P10 sign for example. The trick is to balance image sharpness with cost, a P10 sign, for example, will appear sharp from 10 meters away and this is usually sufficient for getting your message across effectively. If you want finer detail, then we suggest P8 or even P6 signs which will produce sharper images but come at an increased cost. Most of our customer's signs are P8 pixel pitch as research suggests that this is enough to display images sufficient to capture the attention of your community without costing the earth.

Sign Size

When selecting your LED sign it is important to consider sign size and shape. How big does the sign have to be to be effective? This depends on how far your viewers are from the sign, the further away they are the bigger the sign needs to be. However, the key is to use a sign just large enough for the task at hand. Remember the larger the sign the more expensive it will be. Some councils also stipulate maximum sign sizes before a licence is required, please check with your local council. We have found that our standard (roughly 2m x 1m) P8 signs are the perfect size for a school, club or small business as they attract the attention of passers-by without breaking the bank.

Brightness

When you are choosing an LED screen, you will need to factor in its brightness. Remember that it will be placed outdoors and brightness will play an important factor in being able to display a clear image.

It should be bright enough so that even if it’s during the day, the video or images can be seen clearly. Also, the height of the installation place, natural sun brightness, and installation environment will also contribute to the clarity factor of the videos.

So you need to talk to your supplier about these things before you buy one.
